Walk to Local Markets
What better way to be healthy and create fewer emissions than by walking to local markets and buying local food!
Google Maps, Plot a Route and Map My Walk are both excellent ways to find out the best way to get to your local grocery store or market.
Walking one mile to and from work or the store each day is about two-thirds of the recommended daily physical activity for youth and healthy adults. If walking back with bags is a bit much, consider walking to the market and taking public transportation back home. If there are no local bus routes, try planning one large grocery trip each week in your car, and then walking to the market when you just need to pick up one or two items throughout the week.
