SEE Justice Fellowship Development

Ecolibrium3 is pleased to announce that we have been awarded funding from the Environmental Protection Agency’s Environmental Justice Collaborative Problem-Solving Cooperative Agreement Program to develop the Social, Economic and Environmental Justice (SEE Justice) Fellowship. This one-year fellowship program will build a cohort of five Black community members to address systemic social, economic, and environmental injustices and empower other Black community members.

Youth take part in various projects, including harvesting garlic at the Eco3 Farm and participating in a video game development course at the Eco3 computer lab

Currently, our environmental justice programming works to expand youth opportunities in urban agriculture, food access, and digital literacy. Much of this work is done by connecting youth agencies and community partners to the Eco3 Urban Farm. Additionally, we hosted a video game development course this summer, offering youth a chance to explore new skills in technology.

Expanding on this work, the SEE Justice Fellowship members will offer valuable insights to the Black community on environmental justice needs. Fellows will grow and engage with each other to empower their voices and foster change in the Duluth community. This fellowship aims to equip chosen fellows with resources, professional development, and skill-building opportunities to foster both personal and professional growth. Fellows will have the dedicated support and resources to create, design, and implement impactful programs and initiatives to address critical environmental and social injustices in Duluth.

Fellowship applications will open mid-November and close by the end of January. We will host various in-person and virtual information sessions that community members can attend to learn more about the program and have any questions answered.

While we continue to finalize details and content of the program, we are pleased to share this early glimpse and invite those passionate about environmental justice to stay tuned. We are committed to developing a program that will support and uplift Black community members. More information about the application process, information sessions, program details and deadlines will be announced soon.
