About our housing work

Whether it is environmentally-friendly pre-fab houses that can be built at a low cost or renovating existing houses into energy-efficient community housing, we are making sustainable housing a reality in the Lincoln Park neighborhood.

How this work is making change

Affordable housing is a top concern in Duluth. More than half of renters are considered cost-burdened, meaning they spend more than 30% of their income on housing. Much of the housing stock is inefficient and in poor repair. While new housing is built every year, the majority is market rate, costing more than people earning Duluth’s average income of $47,227 can afford. Our work helps create alternative models that drive the conversation about what kind of housing is possible—housing that is affordable and sustainable at the same time.
