Energy Training Corps

Energy Training Corps will provide members with hands-on skills to use for future careers and for their own home weatherization projects

As announced in May 2024, Ecolibrium3 has been awarded an AmeriCorps State and National Grant to build a 25-member Energy Training Corps. Positions are now available and people are invited to apply.

The Energy Training Corps will prepare workers for green careers in climate and community work. Energy efficiency and electrification are growing fields, and service Corps members will be well-positioned for full time employment in careers that include, but are not limited to: Weatherization Tech, HVAC Installer, or Solar Installer. Members will gain valuable energy industry experience and knowledge during their service. This program is a great first step into the energy industry, where members can learn baseline building science knowledge.

We have been hard at work putting all the necessary pieces together to launch this new initiative. At this time, we’re now accepting applications for a year-long position as Energy Auditor and Crew Lead. This position will be trained up to perform whole home energy assessments, energy modeling, and weatherization work. Members will also have the opportunity to assist in program development, household recruitment, and member recruitment. Our training will provide certification up to the Building Performance Institute (BPI) Building Analyst Professional level.

We will also be hiring for summer positions that will be trained up BPI’s Building Analyst Technician level. These members will be prepared to do more of the day-to-day weatherization installation with the guidance of Ecolibrium3 staff and our Crew Lead members. These positions are listed on the AmeriCorps website, and we will be sending out formal job descriptions and more information soon.

The creation of an Energy Training Corps will allow Ecolibrium3 to expand its current scope of work and grow the number of assessments provided by our home energy department. Corps members will perform physical energy efficiency improvements, such as installing insulation and improving air sealing. Weatherization, air sealing, and insulation makes homes more energy efficient and comfortable, as well as making utility bills more affordable.
