Citizens’ Climate Lobby Two Harbors-Duluth Chapter
Citizens’ Climate Lobby is a global nonprofit, nonpartisan organization focused on establishing a political will for climate action by empowering and engaging citizens. Chapters are spread all throughout the US with a few in Canada and other parts of the world. The Two Harbors-Duluth Chapter covers Duluth, Two Harbors, Silver Bay, Knife River, and several other towns in the North Shore region.
Members of the Two Harbors-Duluth Chapter come together once a month to discuss climate change action and solutions, on both a personal and political level. The chapter spreads information about other local initiatives, environmental education opportunities, and everyday eco-friendly actions people can take. Currently, it is working with other chapters in District 8 to educate people on the Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act (HR763) and establishing nonpartisan support for this piece of legislation, which would place a fee on carbon emissions to reduce carbon outputs (theoretically 40% over the first 12 years) and encourage more market interest in clean energy technologies.
Because CCL is volunteer-driven, the Two-Harbors-Duluth Chapter is always looking for new members who bring innovative ideas, diverse viewpoints and experiences, and can-do-attitudes to the table. Together, Citizens’ Climate Lobby can continue to demonstrate strong local support and develop climate solutions with appeal across the political spectrum, to move leaders and build a more livable world.
