AmeriCorps National Day of Service 2025

Eco3 VISTAs spend the afternoon during AmeriCorps National Day of Service painting the upstairs bedrooms and halls of Legacy House

During AmeriCorps National Days of Service, members have the opportunity to collaborate with other programs to address community needs and build teamwork. Members volunteer within their communities, highlighting the positive difference AmeriCorps groups can make through service across the nation.

One of those National Days of Service is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (MLK Day), a day of service to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. King. This year, our AmeriCorps members participated in the National Day of Service by attending locally-sponsored MLK Day events and volunteering at Eco3’s Legacy House.

MLK Day events included the 2025 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Breakfast and Virtual Broadcast programs, as well as a mid-day rally sponsored by the Duluth Chapter of NAACP and other community organizations.

After the rally, VISTAs spent the afternoon volunteering at Ecolibrium3’s Legacy House. They painted the upstairs bedroom walls and the downstairs kitchen walls, further transforming the condemned building into a future home for Eco3 AmeriCorps members.

As members of the Eco3 VISTA cohort serve at many organizations across the community, MLK Day events and volunteering at Legacy House provided VISTAs the opportunity to contribute to the Duluth community as one unified group. We are grateful for community members and organizations who sponsored these events and anticipate next year’s National Day of Service.
